Local Research – Research free or inexpensive events or local activities going on in the area. Many vacation destinations offer inexpensive things to do that you might not know about. Explore the possibility of visiting nearby museums, hiking/biking, fishing, and location specific events. A great resource is your vacation rental company, the destination’s Chamber of Commerce website, and of course Google!

Mealtime – Eating out can add up very quickly, especially if you’re traveling in a large group. Plan your meals ahead for your stay and then grocery shop accordingly. If dining out is on the top of your list of to-do’s during your vacation, be sure to do your research on local restaurants and the specials they might be offering to keep cost down.
